July 8, 2024 (Conway, NH):  Granite Outdoor Alliance (Granite Outdoor), a coalition of New Hampshire-affiliated outdoor businesses, public agencies, non-profits and individuals, is returning to the Saco River for a casual five-milecanoe paddle on Thursday, July 18, followed by dinner at The Beach Camping Area in Conway. Sponsored by Saco Canoe Rental Company, as well as Buena Gave and Tuckerman Brewing, the Saco Paddle gives attendees the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about promoting a sustainable outdoor economy and supporting inclusive, balanced, and passionate communities centered around outdoor recreation. 

The Saco Paddle is one of Granite Outdoors’s Rocktails & Streams events, an outdoor industry networking series that kicked off with a day of mountain biking at Highland Mountain Bike Park in May and will continue with a harbor cruise in Portsmouth on Thursday, August 29. Rocktails & Streams events combine recreation with career networking, creating space to enjoy the outdoors while building relationships with industry professionals, policy makers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

“Mount Washington Valley is a vibrant, natural resource-rich area where year-round outdoor activities drive significant economic growth,” said Granite Outdoor Director Tyler Ray. “Granite Outdoor is deeply rooted in the Valley, and we’ve seen here how advocating for the environment encourages responsible participation from the business community including retailers, restaurants, breweries, hotels, and campgrounds. We love to bring folks from around the State together to celebrate this model of shared stewardship that goes hand in hand with economic vitality.”  

Janel Lawton, Director of New Hampshire’s Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry Development (ORID), will be attending the Paddle to hear from local business leaders, job seekers, and policy makers about the unique challenges and opportunities facing outdoor-centric communities in New Hampshire. Granite Outdoor and ORID work together to connect public and private sectors on sustainable outdoor industry goals.

A Saco Paddle ticket secures canoe rental and accessories, ride to the put-in, dinner, drinks, and a raffle ticket for exclusive giveaways.
